Pueblito Paisa

Located at the top of a large hill in the heart of Medellin sits a tiny traditional village called Pueblito Paisa.  This destination allows visitors to see what a typical Antioquean town would have looked like in the 19th century (Antioquia is the name of the Colombian state where Medellin is located.)

Amongst the colonial-style buildings there is a church, barbershop, restaurant, tile-roof houses, and traditional cobble stone streets.  All types of locally made, artisan crafts can be purchased in the stores and if you’re hungry, you can find the typical dish of the region, the Bandeja Paisa.

However, perhaps the best reason to visit Pueblito Paisa is to see the magnificent 360-degree view of the entire valley.  Medellin never looks prettier than at sunset when the city begins to light up.

Nutibarra Hill takes on a whole new appearance from mid-December to mid-January when it is cloaked in Christmas lights, decorations, and giant light statues.  Read more about this exciting time under “Alumbrados.”

*To get to Pueblito Paisa, either tell your taxi “Nos lleva a Pueblito Paisa” or take the Metro to the Industriales station and walk to the nearby hill. There are steps leading up from street level.

  • The finca was unbelievable. The house was open-aired with hammocks hanging everywhere, sitting right atop a high bluff looking down at a valley and river, with steep rock cliffs and a waterfall behind you. The horses were young and eager to run (much different than the old sway backs you get at a dude ranch!), and the food there was wonderful. -Ashley E.

  • Hands down, the highlight of my trip to Colombia was my stay with Marcela and Noah at Su Casa Colombia. It is clear how much they love their country and their enthusiasm is contagious! I learned so much about the culture (especially the food!) and felt that my time spent there was truly unique and authentic...livin' like a local! Our trip to the finca and waterfall rappelling was crazy fun! I knew I was in good hands and it definitely rivals sky diving for the biggest adrenaline rush I've had. And let's not forget all the wonderful food we had thanks to the incredible staff at the finca. I can't wait to go back! Thank you Su Casa Colombia! -Joanna M.
